December storm

Tuesday, 11 January 2011

Some pictures of the latest storm that struck Tui Nature Reserve just after Christmas.

Beach tree fell down close to the cottage

It ripped off roofs, flipped and sank boats and split trees right next to the houses. Inside the bay we had huge amounts of spray and white-caps coming with the gale-force wind gusts. Luckily the boat survived.

The whole of Marlborough had had flooding coming with the storm. Landslips barricaded highways and the Pelorus and Wairau bridges were almost underwater and had to be closed down.
