Experience as many activities you like: walking tracksThere are four walking tracks which end up on beautiful private beaches, each with their own character. A short climb to the top of the ridge would reward you with 360 degrees awesome panoramic views, 260 metres above sea level! Other tracks cross the plateau forest which is very versatile with open parts and different varieties of trees like the Rimu, Matai and Kahikatea, some up to hundreds of years old.bird watchingThe whole peninsula is experiencing growing numbers of Bell bird, Tui, Grey Warbler, Silvereye, Morepork, Weka, Wood Pigeon etc, etc. Even the NZ Falcon is a regular in the area. beachesEnjoying the secluded beaches for a picnic or a swim. Take the kayaks (beginners) out for a relaxing time on the water.boat cruiseIf it is a nice day you could explore the Outer Pelorus by boat this tour includes a visit to Duffers Reef, where the world rarest seabird the King Shag breeds. We will make sure you have an enjoyable time with stunning scenery. (Cost are kept as low as possible.)
conservation workSometimes it is possible to be actively involved with our pest control programme. Checking traps, maintaining bush tracks are a recurring task for us, so if you like to be hands-on involved with this project, let us know.
relaxThere are only 2 cabins and 1 private cottage, so the number of visitors will always be low. There is privacy for those who wish it. It is not hard to find a place for yourself. Enjoy the amazing views from the deck, veranda or view points. Spend some time on the beaches. Use the outdoor barbeque, while the sun goes down.
Nydia TrackThere is a possibility to walk the quiet and beautiful Nydia Track. You leave from Havelock by fast boat to be dropped off at the start of the Nydia Track. You walk to Nydia Bay, where you can stay the night at Te Mahoerangi Eco Lodge. The next day you can walk to Duncan Bay. We will pick you up by fast boat and bring you to Tui Nature Reserve, where you can stay until the Mail-boat comes to pick you up on a Friday. Before you leave Nydia Bay, please call Tui Nature Reserve to find out if the weather conditions are good enough to be picked up from Duncan Bay.
