Activities Tui Nature Reserve - Marlborough Sounds

Conservation Park Tui Nature Reserve, your remote hide away in a breathtaking world. Enjoy a different and isolated lifestyle 180 meters above sea level. Where nature takes over and time is not important. Read more about our special Marlborough Sounds tour packages. Experience as many activities you like:

walking tracks
There are four walking tracks which end up on beautiful private beaches, each with their own character. A short climb to the top of the ridge would reward you with 360 degrees awesome panoramic views, 260 metres above sea level! Other tracks cross the plateau forest which is very versatile with open parts and different varieties of trees like the Rimu, Matai and Kahikatea, some up to hundreds of years old.

bird watching
The whole peninsula is experiencing growing numbers of Bell bird, Tui, Grey Warbler, Silvereye, Morepork, Weka, Wood Pigeon etc, etc. Even the NZ Falcon is a regular in the area.

beaches
Enjoying the secluded beaches for a picnic or a swim. Take the kayaks (beginners) out for a relaxing time on the water.

boat cruise
If it is a nice day you could explore the Outer Pelorus by boat this tour includes a visit to Duffers Reef, where the world rarest seabird the King Shag breeds. Or alternatively you could do the ‘Pelorus’ Cruise, where we will visit the Gannet Colony in Beatrix Bay, followed by a visit to the local waterfront cafe (Te Rawa) where you can enjoy a drink with a snack. We will make sure you have an enjoyable time with stunning scenery. (Cost are kept as low as possible.)

conservation work
Sometimes it is possible to be actively involved with our pest control programme. Checking traps, maintaining bush tracks are a recurring task for us, so if you like to be hands-on involved with this project, let us know.

relax
With only the ‘Tui Haven’ and ‘Falcon Retreat’ visitor number are always low. There is privacy for those who wish it. It is not hard to find a place for yourself. Enjoy the amazing views from the deck, veranda or view points. Spend some time on the beaches. Use the outdoor barbeque, while the sun goes down.
